LADWP staff will summarize the requirements and program design in past open enrollments and proposed program changes. The public can participate in the workshop and there will be a Q&A session. Some of the proposed changes include, but are not limited to:

  • General:
    • Require all chargers to be installed on or after June 1, 2024
    • Remove rate verification while maintaining that the EV chargers must be served by LADWP and receive approval by LADWP’s New Business or EV Service Design group
    • Remove green building code exemptions and lottery prioritization for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations
  • Level 2 charging station rebates to charge light-duty EVs:
    • Remove the $500 additional port adder and increase the number of total level 2 EV charger rebates from 40 to 80 per premises
    • Expand eligibility to SAE J3400 connectors and AC socket-outlet products that operate with a carry-along cable assembly
    • Require all level 2 connectors to maintain a minimum input current of eight amps
    • Remove the minimum parking space requirements
  • DCFCs to charge light-duty EVs:
    • Increase the number of total public DCFC active connector rebates per premises from eight to twenty
    • Implement an adder of 25 percent for DCFC rebates to charge light-duty EVs located in disadvantaged communities
  • Charging stations to charge medium- and heavy-duty EVs:
    • Increase the maximum rebate amount from $500k to $2,000,000 per premises for projects fueling medium- and heavy-duty EVs
