LADWP’s Commercial Lighting Incentive Program (CLIP) provides rebates on the installation of newly purchased and installed energy-efficient lighting and controls. CLIP’s calculated savings approach allows you to tailor your lighting efficiency upgrades to better meet your lighting needs, attain greater energy savings, and receive higher incentives.

 

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in CLIP:

  • Must be a LADWP commercial customer in good standing, whose current monthly electrical use (Facilities Charge on bill) is greater than 200 kW.
  • Lighting equipment and Network Lighting Controls must be listed on the Design Lights Consortium’s (DLC) Qualified Products List to qualify, unless otherwise noted.
  • Qualifying equipment must have received LADWP approval prior to purchase, installation and operation.
  • The project must achieve a minimum of 25% energy savings.
  • Projects not completed within 120 days of LADWP pre-approval may be cancelled, and reserved rebates returned to the program fund.

Incentive Levels

Incentives are based on the calculated energy savings of each project, with rates ranging from $0.08-$0.40 per kilowatt- hour (kWh) of annualized savings.

Projects may be eligible to receive incentives up to 100% of the project cost.

How to apply

Prior to completing the application documents, review the Terms and Conditions and eligibility requirements to determine if you qualify.

All projects require LADWP approval prior to the start of work and installation of any new equipment. You must prepare and submit an application package to reserve funds.

The CLIP application package includes:

CLIP Application

  • DES Non-Residential Program Application Form Part A
  • CLIP Supplemental Form Part B
  • Authorization Form Part C, if applicable
  • Verification Approval Form Part D
  • IRS Form W-9 

Project Scope of Work

  • Completed CLIP Workbook, detailing your project scope. Note: The incentive will not calculate if the minimum energy savings requirement is not met.
  • Photos of the existing equipment
    • Photos must be representative of the existing fixture types, lamps, ballasts, etc. 
    • A minimum of one luminaire photo taken at the installation address for each unique measure proposed
  • Product specification sheets for each proposed lighting product and Design Lights Consortium’s Qualified Products Listing, as applicable.

Once your application has been received, a CLIP Program Manager will be assigned to your project and will contact you to confirm receipt of the application.

LADWP is unable to guarantee estimated energy savings amounts.  LADWP will provide energy savings and incentive calculations only upon completion of the project and verification of the energy savings. 

The incentives are reserved on a first come, first served basis until funds are exhausted.
