The Small Temporary Electric Service Submittal process applies to a temporary service that is 200Amps or less, single phase, where overhead facilities are available.

If that does not describe your temporary service, use the Temporary, Seasonal, and Construction Service Wizard to determine the process for your temporary service request.

To submit a request for a Small Temporary Electric Service, please follow these steps:

  1. Obtain a permit for temporary service from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS).

  2. Submit a temporary service application at an LADWP Customer Service Center along with payment of related fees and deposits. For more information, call 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397) or visit one of our Customer Service Centers. The Customer Service Center will need the following information:

    1. LADBS permit number for the temporary service
    2. Amps needed for the temporary service
    3. The service voltage (typically 120/240)
    4. Phase of the service (single phase or three phase)
    5. Number of wires needed
    6. Will the service be supplied overhead or underground?

  3. Install your temporary service pole with meter socket in accordance with LADWP Electric Service Requirements.

*Note: If you need assistance with determining the location for your temporary service, please contact the LADWP Connection Center at (213) EMPOWER or (213) 367-6937.

  4. Obtain final inspection and approval from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS).

  5. LADWP will install the meter and energize your temporary service approximately 7 to 10 business days after receiving final inspection approval from LADBS.
