Project Background

LADWP will begin work to replace two broken 36-inch water valves located in the City of Beverly Hills:

  1. Sunset Boulevard at Alpine Drive and
  2. Sunset Boulevard at Sierra Drive

The project will improve water service reliability to customers served by this infrastructure in the immediate area and other surrounding communities. See below for detailed maps of each valve replacement location.

Construction Information

Work will begin the week of January 16, 2023 and is expected to be completed by March 2023, weather permitting.

Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. No water outage is anticipated. Deliveries and emergency services will not be affected, and access to driveways will be maintained throughout construction hours. Construction at both locations will not be performed concurrently, except one Saturday at the end of February or early March.

To provide adequate space for construction activities and traffic, “Temporary Tow-Away, No Parking” signs will be posted near the work area. Vehicles parked in the temporary no-parking zone will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

Traffic Impacts

Sunset Boulevard at Sierra Drive:

Construction will start in mid-January 2023 and is expected to complete by March 2023, weather permitting. Construction will take place in the side walk. One eastbound lane will be closed occasionally to accommodate construction equipment. Westbound lanes will not be affected and will remain open during construction hours. All lanes will return to normal traffic conditions at the end of each work day.

Sunset Boulevard at Alpine Drive:

Construction on this valve will begin in mid-February and is expected to be completed by March 2023, weather permitting. Sunset Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in both the eastbound and westbound direction from N. Elm Drive to N. Rexford Drive. Eastbound traffic will be directed to use one of the two westbound lanes between Alpine Drive and Foothill Drive. Traffic control officers will be present at both intersections to safely direct traffic around the work area and traffic signs will be posted. All lanes will return to normal traffic conditions at the end of each work day.
