In 2015, the Chatsworth Ecology Pond (Pond) was drying up and LADWP sought sustainable solutions to keep water in the Pond without using potable water. In 2016, LADWP removed tens of thousands of cubic yards of sediment from the Pond that had been accumulating for decades, which restored the Pond to approximately its original capacity. LADWP also constructed a catch basin and channel to divert additional stormwater into the Pond. These sustainable measures proved successful to maintaining the Pond. See pictures below.
