If you're a business owner or multifamily property owner with 5 or more units in the City of Los Angeles, reducing energy consumption is easier than you think. With the Commercial Direct Install (CDI) program, after a few simple upgrades, you can start saving today. 

Eligible businesses in the LADWP service area whose average monthly electrical demand is 250 kilowatts (kW) or less, may receive FREE, utility-funded energy efficiency equipment upgrades for small and medium-sized businesses.

High-efficiency electric water heaters that reduce gas usage and emissions while helping avoid costly emergency repairs

LED Case Lighting (Reach-In Units)

Brighter display, lower energy use with up to $100 savings per door annually

Anti-Sweat Heater Controls

Reduces moisture and energy waste with up to $500 savings annually

Auto Door Closers (Walk-In Units)

Keeps doors closed and temperatures stable with up to $500 savings annually

Electronically Commutated Motors (ECMs)

How the Program Works

LADWP partnered with Willdan Inc. to provide no-cost equipment upgrades and installation, to help businesses improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs, through the CDI Program. You’ll receive a free on-site assessment, customized upgrade recommendations, and professional installation—all with no upfront cost.

Assess
Receive a no-cost assessment on us, with recommended upgrades and estimated energy cost savings.

Installation
A CDI program-approved subcontractor completes upgrade installations with minimal disruption at your convenience—at ZERO cost.

Minimum Qualifications

LADWP non-residential electric customers, in good standing, whose average monthly electrical use is 250 kW or less.

Customers that lease their building are eligible, but landlord permission is required.

Multifamily property owners with 5 or more units may qualify for common area lighting upgrades.
